Following complaints from the business world regarding vocational training, the Ministry of National Education has taken action. The "Vocational Interest and Vocational Skills Inventories" developed by the Ministry will enable middle and high school students to make the right educational and career choices in line with their interests and abilities.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, "Vocational Interest and Vocational Skills Inventories" have been developed to ensure that students are correctly guided in their education and career choices by recognizing their interests, abilities, and personality traits.
The inventories, whose software processes have been completed, will be applied to middle and high school students starting from this academic year.
The inventories, which will be implemented in a digital environment, will be answered by students through the prepared website. The responses will be evaluated by the school guidance counselors and psychological advisors, thus providing students with guidance and placement services within the scope of vocational counseling.
WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EDUCATION AND WORK LIFE
Thanks to the inventories, it is aimed to guide students more accurately in their transition to high school and program preferences, strengthen their digital competencies, and develop positive attitudes towards professions.
The study will contribute to students' ability to choose programs suitable for themselves and to understand the relationship between education and work life more consciously.
The "Vocational Interest Inventory" includes items aimed at measuring students' interests across a wide range, such as science, nature/ecosystem, social impact, culture, society and belief systems, art, sports, health, technology and engineering, data science, and digital communication.
WILL BE A GUIDE
The "Vocational Skills Inventory" has been prepared to determine the skill profiles of middle and high school students in 53 fields and 114 branches available in vocational and technical Anatolian high schools. At the middle school level, students will be directed to areas suitable for their interests and skills during the transition to high school, while at the high school level, more conscious orientations towards higher education programs or professions will be ensured.
The inventories will be a guide not only for students but also for teachers and parents. These tools, which will be used in guidance and psychological counseling services, serve as a strong resource to support students' vocational development.
THE AIM IS TO DEVELOP HUMAN RESOURCES
The inventories prepared in line with the fundamental principles of the Turkey Century Education Model will strengthen the link between education and employment, supporting Turkey's goal of developing a qualified human resource. In this way, students will get to know themselves not only during their school years but also in their lifelong development processes, uncover their potentials, and make the right vocational decisions.
