Kasımpaşa's head coach Emre Belözoğlu made striking statements following the 3-0 defeat against Galatasaray. Belözoğlu's remark, "No one should expect me to make a sausage pizza when I have only cheese and tomatoes," sparked a lot of discussion.
KASIMPAŞA Head Coach Emre Belözoğlu said, "We need to change with the break. Kasımpaşa finished the first half without winning a match at home for the first time. Therefore, a change in our team seems inevitable. Starting tomorrow, we will train for 3 days. We will go to camp on January 2. We have a team that needs to change with a minimum of 7-8 players. Hopefully, we can do this," he said.
Kasımpaşa lost 3-0 to Galatasaray in the 17th week of the Super League. In the press conference held after the match, Kasımpaşa Head Coach Emre Belözoğlu made statements. Evaluating the match, Emre Belözoğlu said, "We had clear details on what we could do against Galatasaray. I have a group of players who are trying their best to implement what we discussed to hold the game. We kept the game at 1-0. Galatasaray is a strong team in transition when you lose the ball. They are a strong team in set attacks. A team that can play both sides very well. We had prepared for this. While we were leading 1-0, we made a move around the 65-70th minute. In response to that move, we tried to play a bit more boldly. This allowed them to find more space. We couldn't execute our attacking intentions. Defensively, we managed to press Galatasaray in certain areas. I can see the desire and eagerness of my players. We need to change with the break. 'SOME OF OUR PLANS WORKED TODAY, SOME DID NOT'
Belözoğlu expressed that some of their plans worked today while others did not, saying, "Nevertheless, we are here to do our best. We have a winter break ahead of us where we believe we will strengthen the squad. I think Kasımpaşa needs to do this. Kerem (Demirbay) is a good player. He is one of the players mentioned. It seems that we need players like him who can bring out the game I want without holding the ball and in directing it. We spoke with Mr. Ceyhun, and we talked with our presidents. I believe we can do something to strengthen the team. We will build a team that can achieve at least 8-9 victories out of 17 matches. I am not in a position to complain. I should not complain if I have come to this squad. Some of our plans worked today, some did not. We faced a strong team," he said.
'NOBODY SHOULD EXPECT ME TO MAKE PIZZA WITH SAUSAGE OR SALAMI'
Emre Belözoğlu emphasized that he is trying to do his best with the current squad, stating, "I have to create the best game I can with the ingredients I have. If I have cheese and tomatoes, I should make the best pizza with just cheese and tomatoes. Nobody should expect me to make pizza with sausage or salami. This is the reality of the situation. Coaches should approach things a bit more realistically when discussing certain matters. I am focused on what I can do best with what I have. There are definitely areas we need to change and improve offensively," he said.
Emre Belözoğlu concluded his statements with the following remarks:
"You have to make the best of what you have. The process we experienced with Ankaragücü was completely, in my opinion, a process organized by the referees. Antalyaspor was one of the most troubled squads in the league last year, but I think we did a good job. We started the league very well. We earned 9 points in 4 matches. The community was unhappy, saying we needed to win all 4 matches. That's why I left. Because sometimes you can face a group that does not want to confront the realities in the country.
