Nurse Lucy Letby, 34, in the UK, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing seven babies last year and attempting to kill six others. Last August, Letby was found guilty of seven murders and sentenced to life imprisonment for injecting insulin and air into babies while working in the neonatal ward. The truth came to light when the staff became suspicious due to the increase in baby deaths. Police found notes in Letby's house saying "I am bad, I did this." RECEIVED A SECOND LIFE SENTENCELetby, who was sentenced to a second life imprisonment for attempting to kill another baby, shouted in court, "I am innocent!" INVESTIGATION ON WHETHER OTHER BABIES WERE HARMEDAn investigation is ongoing to determine whether Letby harmed other babies at Chester Hospital and Liverpool Women's Hospital. Prosecutor Nicola Wyn Williams said, "Lucy Letby has also been convicted of attempting to kill another baby. This has been a difficult, complex, and disturbing case. A trained nurse targeted the most vulnerable babies. We still do not know why she committed these crimes. However, the prosecution must only prove that the defendant committed the crime. Two separate juries found Letby guilty, and the sentence means she will never be released from prison. Although this may not bring comfort to the families, our thoughts are with them again today."
