Erdoğan's striking message about Syria: Turkey is bigger than Turkey.

In his speech at the TÜBİTAK and TÜBA Awards Ceremony, President Erdoğan delivered a striking message regarding Syria. Erdoğan stated, "Turkey is greater than Turkey. We cannot limit our vision to 782,000 square kilometers. Just as a person cannot escape their destiny, Turkey and the Turkish nation cannot flee from their fate or hide from it."

President Erdoğan spoke at the TÜBİTAK and TÜBA Awards Ceremony at the Beştepe National Congress and Culture Center. Erdoğan, who also made a notable statement about Syria at the podium, said, "Turkey is greater than Turkey. Those who ask what Turkey is doing in Syria cannot understand this."

Highlights from President Erdoğan's statements at the event in Beştepe are as follows: "This year, we are presenting awards to 57 scientists who carry out valuable studies with TÜBA and TÜBİTAK science awards. Under the TÜBA TESEP program, a total of 7 works have been deemed worthy of awards, including four copyright works, one special award for Halil İnalcık, one special award for Kemal Karpat, and one jury special award. Thus, we have awarded the TÜBA TESEP award to 246 Turkish scientific copyright works to date. Our TÜBA outstanding successful young scientist awards stand out as one of the first and most original examples of young academy formations in the world. This year, we are presenting these awards to 25 young scientists conducting scientific studies at 20 different universities.

Thus, the number of young scientists who have won the TÜBA GEBİP award since 2001 will rise to 669. We are awarding the TÜBA International Academy Awards to 4 valuable scientists who have distinguished themselves with their original, pioneering, and groundbreaking works in three different categories at the international level. With these 4 names, we will have presented TÜBA International Academy awards to a total of 32 scientific pioneers to date. So far, 947 of our scientists have won TÜBA awards, which fill an important gap in the field of international scientific diplomacy.

Again this year, we are presenting TÜBİTAK science awards to 21 scientists from 15 different universities, including 7 in science, 13 in encouragement, and one in service. I wholeheartedly congratulate our academics and scientists who have won TÜBA and TÜBİTAK science awards on behalf of myself, science, and my nation. I wish success in their future endeavors to each of our award-winning professors. I also extend my congratulations to the award commission and the referees for their intense efforts and evaluations throughout the year.

"WE PLAN TO PULL TURKEY TO A VERY STRATEGIC POINT"

One of the leading figures in the field of medicine, Ibn Sina, said a thousand years ago; Science and art migrate from places where they are not appreciated. Although we are in an exceptional position in terms of scientific accumulation in the world, we have lagged behind in terms of institutionalization. A significant portion of the Science Academies in Europe was established in the 7th century. The inability to correctly read the spirit of the new era brings regression along with it. We must also add the sabotage carried out from within our country to this. From Turkey's first electric car brand Togg to our 5th Generation Fighter Jet Kaan, and to our first manned space mission, we have encountered this understanding.

They said Togg has no factory, they compared Kaan to a radiator. They already had a nervous breakdown with every success of the UAVs and armed drones. Instead of appreciating success, they tried to obstruct it. We also witnessed the introduction of Turkey's first quantum computer last month. Quantum computers, which solve complex tasks that even supercomputers struggle with for years in just a few minutes, are only found in 15 countries. With these steps, we plan to pull Turkey to a very strategic point in global competition.

"TURKEY IS GREATER THAN TURKEY"

There are even those who criticize and belittle this. Since we took office, we have tried to break the shackles that have been placed on minds. We have tried to instill the confidence that 'We can do it, we can succeed.' We have removed words that instill hopelessness from our vocabulary. Although it was difficult and took a serious amount of time, thank God we have managed to eliminate learned helplessness. To be free, we must be original.

This reality reminds us, especially regarding Syria and every incident that has occurred in our region recently, that Turkey is greater than Turkey. We cannot limit our horizon to 782 thousand square kilometers. Just as a person cannot escape from their fate, Turkey and the Turkish nation cannot escape or hide from their destiny.
