Galatasaray Divan Kurulu Başkanı Aykutalp Derkan made striking statements about their eternal rivals Fenerbahçe, whom they will host in the 25th week of the Trendyol Super League, during the Ordinary Divan Assembly meeting in February. Derkan also addressed the discussions regarding foreign referees related to the big derby.

Speaking about the competitive environment in Turkish football, the understanding of fair management, and the discussions that arise before the derby, Derkan stated, "We are facing individuals or groups that are very far from nobility and grace. I believe there is no need to stir this up more before the derby match and an important European match. However, there is a very interesting issue here. Clubs are important for the competition in Turkish football. However, the practices carried out in a fair and equal manner should also be appropriate according to the football authority so as not to disrupt the beautiful game," he said.
"FOREIGN REFEREES SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO ALL MATCHES"
Galatasaray Divan Kurulu Başkanı Aykutalp Derkan also touched upon the discussions about foreign referees, stating that for this practice to be fair, it should cover all matches, and he used the following expressions;
"The issue of foreign referees is being discussed, there are 19 teams, and 9 matches are played every week. There is serious competition not only among teams competing for the championship but also in the relegation zone. For the game of football to be fair and within the framework of equality, you either bring foreign referees to all matches or you don't. What is the fault of those struggling desperately at the bottom? There is no one else in Turkey who expresses this. In Turkey, there is not only a championship struggle but also a fight that includes the Europa League, Conference League, and relegation, which means being eliminated from the league. The football league is a whole. There are 9 matches in a week. Local leagues are also continuing in Europe. It seems illogical to me. Who will send the referees on duty to another league while the leagues are ongoing? This issue has been rushed. If it is to be done, it should be planned for the end of the season or for the next season in terms of the fairness of the game."
