Ali Osman Köse, the principal of Sincan Anatolian High School, one of Ankara's project schools, announced his resignation, claiming that the appointed assistant principals were determined based on the recommendation of a union representative without any official capacity, rather than the names he proposed.
The appointment crisis at Sincan Anatolian High School, one of Ankara's established educational institutions, resulted in harsh statements and the resignation of School Principal Ali Osman Köse. Köse argued that external interference occurred in the appointment of deputy principals to the institution with project school status.
"UNION REPRESENTATIVE DIRECTED THE APPOINTMENT"
Köse stated that they proposed meritorious individuals who would add value to the institution and perform their duties well for the two vacant deputy principal positions, claiming that a union representative with no official authority called him and directed the appointments during this process.
Köse expressed his surprise and objection to the situation at that time with these words:
“We had two vacant deputy principal positions, meaning they were open. We proposed truly valuable, precious, highly meritorious individuals who do their job very well and would add value here. Because the logic of being a project school provides such an opportunity. But a union representative, with no official title, called me as if they were my supervisor and said, 'We have deemed these suitable for your school'... At that time, I was very surprised by this. We, with utmost politeness and respect, said, 'We have agreed on two colleagues and humbly proposed them.' But at the end of the day, we saw that the people they deemed suitable, 'in quotes,' were indeed appointed here.”
"YOU CERTAINLY ARE NOT SERVING THE HOMELAND"
Köse claimed that this method of appointment is incompatible with the understanding of serving the state and the nation, rebelling with harsh words. The experienced educator, expressing his uncertainty about which group was being served, continued:
“I don't know which structure, which group, or whom you are serving, but it's certain you are not serving the homeland. I serve the homeland. I serve the state, I serve the nation, I serve this flag. And as long as this life is in this body, I will continue to do so.”
"AS LONG AS YOUR WORD HOLDS CURRENCY..."
Ali Osman Köse, stating that staying in his position after this external interference in the deputy principal positions was incompatible with his principles, concluded his statement, which resonated greatly in the education community, with his resignation decision:
"Therefore, as long as your word holds currency and approval, I cannot serve as school principal here. That's why I am resigning."
