Pianist and composer Fazıl Say evaluated the events in Gaza as a genocide in a statement he made on his social media account. In his statement, Say noted, "The major classical music institutions in Western countries are so pro-Israel that it is an embarrassing situation for me. I am in an environment where I feel very lonely, even while making music and sharing emotions... It is so manipulated that they have become ugly, accusing supporters of Palestine of 'antisemitism.' They will feel ashamed. They will not be able to sleep peacefully. It is a genocide in Gaza. Period!
