Fenerbahçe Board Member Hulusi Belgü made striking statements before the fixture draw for the 2025/2026 season of the Trendyol Super League. In his statement, Hulusi Belgü said, "We have made the necessary warnings to the TFF. We don't want to say that the one who draws the sixth ball is in trouble. Hopefully, a fair fixture will emerge."
Fenerbahçe Board Member Hulusi Belgü made striking statements regarding the Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) draw and applications for the 2024-2025 season schedule.
"WE WARNED TFF"
Stating that the current management of TFF has shown a transparent approach, Hulusi Belgü said, "They provided us with information regarding the draw, and we shared our concerns. However, there is no complete transparency in practice like in Europe. The distribution of the schedule is known in advance, but teams are ranked by the draw. It should either be completely open or like in Europe. We have a hybrid system in place, and this is not right," he said.
"THE TEAM DRAWING THE 6TH BALL IS AT A DISADVANTAGE"
Emphasizing that teams going to away games, especially after European cups, are at a disadvantage, Belgü stated, "The team drawing the 6th ball will go to away games 7 times after European matches during the season. Other teams will only experience this situation 3-4 times. This is unfair competition," he expressed.
"LIMITATION FOR ISTANBUL TEAMS SHOULD BE REDUCED TO 4 MATCHES"
Criticizing the 6-match 'intra-city match' limitation applied to Istanbul teams, Hulusi Belgü said, "This number should be reduced to 4 matches. Last season, Galatasaray did not leave Istanbul for 69 days. We, on the other hand, constantly went to away games. When it overlaps with European matches, it creates a big problem," he stated.
"DISADVANTAGE FOR FENERBAHÇE"
Belgü also pointed out the injustices in the derby fixtures, saying, "In the Beşiktaş-Galatasaray matches, Beşiktaş played the first match at home 10 times, while we have been playing the first match in Kadıköy and the second in Galatasaray's away for 3 years. This is not fair," he said.
"POSTPONED MATCHES HAVE DISTURBED THE BALANCE"
Reminding that postponed matches have disrupted the balance of the schedule, Belgü said, "During a period when Muslera was not available, Galatasaray was supposed to go to Sivas for an away match, but the matches were postponed. League shifts affect the fate of the season; we do not want to experience this again. We have made the necessary warnings to TFF. We do not want to say that the team drawing the 6th ball is at a disadvantage. Hopefully, a fair schedule will emerge," he concluded.
