A fire broke out in the Nilüfer district of Bursa. The fire, which spread to the forest including the campus of Bursa Uludağ University, caused the evacuation of the dormitories on the campus as a precaution.

"WE WILL ESCAPE A BIG INCIDENT"

Upon receiving the notification of the fire, intervention started on the ground with 150 personnel and from the air with 4 helicopters. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey, who went to the scene, said, "Hopefully, we will bring this fire under control in a short time and we will all be relieved. It is actually a large area; the fire is still ongoing. It is spreading more and more due to the effect of the wind. Of course, our fire brigade teams, 16 fire brigade teams, around 20 tankers, off-road vehicles, a total of nearly 40 vehicles are currently in the area. Our machines, bulldozers are also in the area. But we see that the fire is progressing due to the throwing of pine cones. This saddens all of us. We are trying to stop it at the moment.

Nearly 150 personnel are in the field, 4 helicopters, planes, and helicopters are constantly providing support at the moment. But we see that it has not been stopped yet. Hopefully, in a short time, if we hope that the wind slows down a bit, we will prevent it and we will have escaped a major incident," he said.

Bozbey emphasized that the fire continues in the area where pine trees are located and that the fire grows with the spreading of pine cones. Bozbey stated that the animals in the campus were evacuated to safe areas. Bozbey stated that the student dormitories will also be evacuated and said:

"It is progressing in the pine area. And it is progressing in the area where there are very dense pine trees. There are also oak sections in between. But it passes through them with pine cones. Unfortunately, we are saddened to see that they are transferred to other pine sections. There was an area where the veterinary clinic, especially horses and animals, was located. The release of the horses was ensured there. But it is not possible to estimate what happened to the other animals at the moment. Because the fire suddenly came there. Then, of course, there are dormitories. There is currently a problem with the dormitories. Evacuation of the dormitories is on the agenda. Those instructions have also been given. The dormitories will be evacuated now. We are taking precautions. Our effort is for no harm to come to humans. But we desire that no harm comes to any living being.
