In a fire that broke out in a shanty in Üsküdar, two people aged 33 and 38 lost their lives.
A fire broke out in a shanty on Dağyeli Street in Üsküdar Yavuztürk Neighborhood around 03:15. Upon seeing smoke coming from the shanty, those who witnessed it reported the incident, and police, fire brigade, and medical teams arrived at the scene. The fire was extinguished with the intervention of the fire brigade. During the efforts of the teams, it was determined that Engin Y. (33) and İsmail T. (38), who were staying in the shanty, lost their lives. After the scene investigation conducted at the house, the bodies were taken to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institution.
'THE CHILDREN WERE COMPLETELY BURNED'
Yüksel Aydın, a friend of Engin Y. who arrived at the scene, stated, "The neighborhood is filled with smoke. When I saw the fire brigade, my uncle's son called and informed me. He said, 'There’s a fire on Engin's side.' The children were completely burned, they were shattered. One hour before he died, the child came and asked me for 100 lira. He said, 'I’m hungry, I just changed the gas cylinder. Give me 100 lira so I can brew tea and buy bread.'"
