A fire broke out from an electricity pole in an area with approximately 50 wooden houses located in the Eğerce neighborhood of Mudanya district in Bursa. The flames quickly spread to the surrounding houses. Upon notification, a large number of fire, health, and Mudanya Municipality Search and Rescue teams were dispatched to the area. The fire crews that arrived at the scene intervened immediately. The fire was extinguished before it could spread to the forested area next to the houses, preventing a possible disaster.
"WE HAVE DETERMINED THAT AT LEAST 18 HOUSES HAVE BEEN DAMAGED"
Mudanya Mayor Deniz Dalgıç stated that the fire did not grow due to the lack of wind, saying, "We experienced a fire that is believed to have originated from a contact on the electricity pole in the area we refer to as the shacks owned by the Mudanya Municipality. We have determined that at least 18 houses have been damaged. The absence of people in the houses and the fact that the holiday season has not yet arrived prevented any loss of life. The area behind this is a forested area. If today had been a windy day, the fire could have been more severe," he said.
Citizen Levent Arslan stated, "It is believed that the fire started from the electricity pole. Here, the north wind blows for 9 months out of 12. We encountered the south wind this evening. I wish our village well," he said.
