The devastating news came 19 days after the long-awaited 8-year-old Narin Güran, whom Turkey had been eagerly waiting for. The lifeless body of the little girl was found in the riverbed 2 km away from the village. STATEMENTS BEGIN TO EMERGEFollowing the development, 24 suspects, including family members, were detained based on the statements of a secret witness, and the statements taken as part of the investigation began to emerge. FIRST CONFESSION IN NARIN MURDERAfter it was determined that he went to the riverbank with his vehicle, a suspect who was taken into custody used striking statements during his interrogation. According to a report in Sabah newspaper, the suspect confessed, saying, "The mayor gave me the body in a sack. I took the sack and brought it to the river." INVESTIGATION DEEPENSFollowing the significant confession related to the murder, the investigation was deepened. It was learned that 91 samples were taken from Narin's body during the autopsy, her left leg was detached from the knee in the sack, and the bone fragments were sent to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Directorate. WHAT HAPPENED?On August 21, Narin Güran, who went to a Quran course in Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district, did not return home after the course, so her family searched for her on their own. When no results were obtained from the search, Narin's father Arif Güran reported her missing on the same day around 20:00. As a result, numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village. While the search efforts were ongoing, Narin Güran's brother E.G. (18) was detained due to bite marks on his arm. When it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin in the examination at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Directorate, E.G. was released. Then Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar (village headman) of rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was taken into custody. Salim Güran, whose DNA samples taken from his vehicle matched the DNA samples on Narin's clothes, was arrested for "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty." The teams, who focused on previously searched areas again, conducted a search in the Eğertutmaz Stream, located 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin was killed and then thrown into the river in a sack, which was covered with stones.
