Geologist and Earthquake Expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement following the 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered in the Kale district of Malatya, which was felt in many provinces.
"NO WORRIES"
Görür stated in a post on his social media account on platform X, "A 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Akuşağı-Kale/Malatya. It is on the East Anatolian Fault Zone. As you know, this fault was largely broken due to the Elazığ earthquake in 2020. The earthquake today is likely a result of energy transfer from the earthquakes of February 6, 2023, to this fault. No worries," he expressed.
