AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek made his first statement regarding the investigation launched over allegations made about his father Melih Gökçek and his family. Stating that the investigation is important in terms of revealing the truth, Gökçek said, 'It will come to light who is telling the truth and which allegations reflect reality.'
AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek announced that he is pleased that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the allegations made against his father, Melih Gökçek, and his family. Gökçek said, "No one should avoid being tried. I am in favor of the allegations regarding myself and my family being fully investigated before the judiciary."
"WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH WILL EMERGE"
In a written statement on his social media account, Gökçek stated that the investigation will reveal whether the allegations reflect the truth. Expressing that he will respect any decision made by the judiciary, Gökçek said, "Only this way will it emerge who is telling the truth and which allegations reflect reality."
Gökçek also said he is pleased that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has filed a criminal complaint against him.
MESSAGE FOR YAVAŞ AND AĞIREL
Gökçek stated that Yavaş had previously made various accusations against him in public, and expressed that he finds it important that these allegations will now be presented before the judiciary.
Also making statements regarding journalist Murat Ağırel, Gökçek noted that all lawsuits Ağırel filed against him resulted in his favor, while the lawsuits he filed against Ağırel are ongoing. Gökçek stated that if a ruling is made against Ağırel in the cases, he expects him to show the same respect and maturity.
Gökçek also noted that he has filed numerous criminal complaints against Mansur Yavaş and requested that the same approach be shown if a ruling is made against Yavaş in any of these processes.
"JUSTICE SHOULD NOT VARY ACCORDING TO A PERSON'S POSITION"
Reminding that he is an AK Party deputy, Gökçek emphasized that justice should not vary according to political party, office, financial power, or a person's position.
Gökçek concluded his statement with the words, "No one should avoid being tried. I am in favor of the allegations regarding myself and my family being fully investigated before the judiciary."
