During the first meeting of the Gaza Peace Council held in Washington under the presidency of U.S. President Donald Trump, five countries committed to sending troops to Gaza. Accordingly, Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Albania will send military units to Gaza. The soldiers, who will serve in the International Stabilization Force, will initially be stationed in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The first meeting of the Gaza Peace Council, which includes Turkey among its founding members, was held in Washington under the chairmanship of U.S. President Donald Trump.

5 COUNTRIES TO SEND TROOPS TO GAZA

Jasper Jeffers, the Commander of the International Stability Force (ISF) planned to be deployed to the Gaza Strip, stated in his speech at the meeting that 5 countries have committed to sending troops to Gaza, saying, "Today, I am very pleased to announce that the first five countries have committed to sending troops for the ISF (International Stability Force): Indonesia, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, and Albania. Egypt and Jordan have committed to police training," he said.

TO BE DEPLOYED FIRST IN REFAH

Jeffers also stated that the ISF will first be deployed in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza to begin police training, and that the control area will expand region by region. Jeffers noted that the long-term plan is to deploy 20,000 ISF troops to Gaza and train 12,000 police officers.

APPLICATIONS FOR POLICE FORCE HAVE STARTED

Gaza's High Representative Nickolay Mladenov stated that applications for the new temporary police organization in the Gaza Strip have started today, saying, "We have initiated the recruitment process for the Palestinian police force, and within the first few hours, 2,000 people have applied to join the new temporary Palestinian police force to be established in Gaza."

On September 23, 2025, eight prominent Muslim leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Gaza to achieve a ceasefire and peace. Following this meeting, a Peace Plan was announced by President Trump.

As part of the Peace Plan, a joint statement signed by Turkey, the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit held on October 13, 2025, announced that a ceasefire had been achieved, which constituted the first phase of the Peace Plan. The Peace Plan was accepted by the UN Security Council's decision numbered 2803 dated November 17, 2025.

On January 14, it was announced that the Gaza Administration National Committee, consisting of 15 Palestinian technocrats, was formed to take over the administration of Gaza. On the same day, it was announced that the second phase of the Peace Plan was initiated with the statement of U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.

On January 16, the establishment of the Peace Council and the names that will be in the relevant bodies were announced. In this context, the Peace Council, Executive Board, High Representative Office, Gaza Executive Board, and Gaza Administration National Committee were established.

Minister Fidan represented President Erdoğan at the signing ceremony held in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, and signed the Peace Council Charter.
