"UKRAINE NEEDS OUR SUPPORT"
In his opening speech at the summit, British Prime Minister Starmer stated, "No matter how long it takes, we are with you, Ukraine." Emphasizing that they are facing an extraordinary situation that every generation may encounter regarding the security of Europe, Starmer said, "The issue here is not whether achieving a good outcome for Ukraine is right or wrong. The situation is vital for the security of every country here and many more." Prime Minister Starmer mentioned that they aim to work on a peace plan for Ukraine and then discuss it with the US to move forward together. He emphasized that today’s discussions would focus on how to establish a fair and lasting peace together and how to support Ukraine at the same time, stating, "Because even if Russia talks about peace, it continues its ruthless attacks."
"UKRAINE NEEDS PEACE"
Before the summit, a separate meeting took place between Ukrainian President Zelensky and Italian Prime Minister Meloni. In a statement regarding the meeting, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine needs security guarantees, saying, "We had a productive meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to develop a joint action plan for finding a fair and lasting solution to the war. Therefore, it is important to maintain unity on Ukraine and strengthen our country's position in cooperation with our allies from European countries and the US. Ukraine needs a peace supported by solid security guarantees."
