Hundreds of hectares of land were burned in the forest fire that broke out in the district of Soma in Manisa. Two neighborhoods were evacuated due to the fire. The fire is being intervened from the air and the ground.
A forest fire that broke out in the Soma district of Manisa during the daytime has still not been brought under control. The flames have turned hundreds of hectares into ashes, and 2 neighborhoods have been evacuated.
TWO NEIGHBORHOODS EVACUATED DUE TO FIRE
In the Deniş neighborhood of Soma district in Manisa, a forest fire broke out around 12:00 today, and aerial and ground interventions are still ongoing against the flames. The fire that broke out in the Deniş neighborhood spread to the upper part of the Tekeli Işıklar neighborhood and then to the Bayat neighborhood due to the rugged terrain and the effect of the wind. Taking precautions due to the risk of the fire approaching residential areas, gendarmerie teams evacuated 2 neighborhoods and banned entry.
AERIAL AND GROUND INTERVENTIONS CONTINUE
Additional support was provided to the fire, which is being intervened with 1 plane, 2 helicopters, 10 fire trucks, 5 water supply vehicles, and 2 bulldozers. The number of planes was increased to 5 and the number of helicopters to 12 in the 5th hour of the fire. The fire was also intervened with 51 fire trucks and 4 bulldozers on the ground. The firefighting efforts were also supported by the teams affiliated with the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department. With the darkening of the sky, a night vision helicopter also joined the extinguishing efforts.
70 HIVES BURNED
In the fire, beehives belonging to Aydın Aydınlık, located in the olive grove in the upper part of the Tekeli Işıklar neighborhood and containing bees, were also damaged. Aydın Aydınlık, stating that hundreds of bees died due to the fire, said, "I have suffered from the fire. The fire, which grew with the effect of the wind, could not be prevented. I had 40 beehives on 2 floors. 70 of my beehives were damaged. I have a loss of between 100,000 and 150,000 TL."
