Former CIA Chief Warns Israel About 'Turkey': It Would Be a Disaster

Former CIA Middle East Chief Graham Fuller made striking assessments regarding the power of the Turkish army in the region and the recent messages exchanged between Turkey and Israel.

"THE TURKISH ARMY IS ISRAEL'S MOST SERIOUS RIVAL"

Stating that the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) possess a very serious military capacity, Fuller said, "The Turkish army is probably the most serious rival that Israel could face in terms of overall military capacity in the region." He emphasized that Turkey's disciplined military structure, military technology, and strategic depth make it stand out in the region. He also pointed out that Turkey's geopolitical position gives it strong offensive and defensive capabilities.

"I DO NOT EXPECT DIRECT CONFLICT"

Speaking on a YouTube channel, the former CIA Chief stated that he does not expect a direct military conflict between Ankara and Tel Aviv, but noted that Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government have exhibited unpredictable behaviors.

Emphasizing that a potential war between Turkey and Israel could turn into 'disaster' for Tel Aviv, Fuller said, "What I mean is that if Israel goes too far in Syria and Lebanon... even entering Beirut to engage directly with Turkey would be a significant move. I think it would likely be disastrous from a military perspective. We might also consider Iran, but Turkey would definitely be very challenging. That’s why I thought the mutual threats so far were a bluff. I hope it is a bluff."
