France and the Greek Cypriot Administration conducted a joint amphibious exercise with the participation of naval forces.
It has been reported that a joint amphibious exercise was conducted with the participation of the naval forces of France and the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA).
JOINT EXERCISE BETWEEN FRANCE AND GREEK CYPRUS
According to news in the Greek press, the joint amphibious exercise organized with the participation of personnel from the French naval forces and the Greek Cypriot National Guard (GCNG) as part of technical training between the two sides has been completed.
No information was provided regarding the location of the exercise, which was completed on Sunday.
"IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENSURE SOLIDARITY AMONG EUROPEAN ALLIES"
In a statement from the French army, it was noted that "The activity provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation, organize joint training to enhance the ability to work together, and ensure solidarity among European allies for collective security."
The Greek press drew attention to the fact that the exercise took place during a period when the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and the warships accompanying it were located off the coast of the GCA.
FRANCE HAD SENT WARSHIPS TO GREEK CYPRUS
GCA leader Nikos Christodoulides had called European leaders one by one to request military assistance after the drone strike on the British sovereign base Akrotiri (Ağrotur) in southern Cyprus on March 2, following the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran and Tehran's retaliations.
Considering the developments in the Middle East and the request of Greek leader Christodoulides, France had deployed the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier and the accompanying warships off the coast of the city of Paphos in the GCA.
