Linda McMahon, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), is transitioning from the wrestling rings to the government. The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he would appoint McMahon as the Secretary of Education. "A DETERMINED ADVOCATE FOR PARENTAL RIGHTS"Trump shared on his social media platform Truth Social about the cabinet he plans to form for the new term. In his post, Trump noted that McMahon, whom he plans to appoint as Secretary of Education, is "a determined advocate for parental rights," stating that McMahon will "ensure that families can make the best educational decisions for their children." Trump expressed that McMahon, who previously provided children with the opportunity to receive a good education regardless of their economic status through her work as the Chairman of the America First Policy Institute, will work tirelessly with her experience in education and business to make the U.S. "number one in the world" in education. KNOWN FOR HER LARGE DONATIONS TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTYServing as co-chair of the transition team, McMahon is also known for her large donations to the Republican Party. Linda McMahon, whom Trump appointed as the head of the Small Business Administration from 2017 to 2019, previously served as the CEO of the entertainment company World Wrestling Entertainment. TRUMP HAD PLANNED TO CLOSE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONIn a speech made during his campaign, Trump stated, "One of the first things I will do when I take office is to close the Department of Education in Washington. All operations related to education and teaching need to be returned to the states." Experts noted that for Trump to close the Department of Education, he would need at least 60 votes from the Senate and would also require the support of Democrats, which is unlikely. Instead, they believe that appointing a symbolic figure to head the Department of Education could render the department ineffective during Trump's term.
