The escalating tension between the US and Iran has stirred global oil markets. Following the increase in Brent crude oil, which Turkey imports, diesel prices have been raised. The price per liter of diesel has risen by 2 lira and 41 kuruş, surpassing the 60 TL mark for the first time in history. The markets are watching for a possible increase in gasoline prices.
The fluctuations in Brent crude oil prices are directly affecting fuel prices. Despite the U.S. continuing diplomatic contacts with Iran, the deployment of aircraft carrier fleets to the Middle East and military buildup in the region has unsettled the markets. Claims that the Washington administration has limited operational plans regarding Iran's nuclear activities have also put upward pressure on oil prices.
DIESEL PRICE INCREASE REFLECTED AT THE PUMP
Diesel has seen a 4.16% increase. The price per liter of diesel, which rose by 2 TL 41 kuruş, has exceeded 60 lira in many cities. In Istanbul, diesel is sold for 60.30 lira, while in Ankara it has risen to 61.41 lira, and in Izmir, it has reached 61.69 lira. In Adana, the price per liter has increased to 62.24 lira. In Eastern Anatolia, Tunceli has seen a price of 63.10 lira, Hakkari 63.12 lira, and Bingöl and Bitlis have recorded levels of 63.10 lira.
With the latest increase, the price of diesel has surpassed the 60 lira barrier for the first time in history.
EYES ON GASOLINE
After the increase in diesel, attention has turned to gasoline prices. If the rise in Brent crude continues, a new increase in gasoline prices is being considered.
