GERMANY DEPLOYS EUROFIGHTERS IN POLAND
Germany has assigned new fighter jets and soldiers to enhance the protection of NATO's eastern flank. In a statement from the German Ministry of Defense, it was reported that a team of approximately 150 personnel, including pilots, technicians, security personnel, and military police, has been deployed to Poland.
The statement also indicated that several Eurofighter fighter jets from the Nörvenich Air Base in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, have been sent to Poland's Malbork Military Airport. It was reported that this deployment was carried out to prevent Russian fighter jets from violating airspace in the Baltic Sea region and to stop unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from entering NATO territory.
"WE ARE SENDING A STRONG SUPPORT MESSAGE TO NATO"
Lieutenant General Holger Neumann, Commander of the German Air Force, stated, "With this mission, in addition to our Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) fleet stationed in Romania since August, our soldiers are providing another valuable contribution to the protection of the Alliance's eastern flank. Thus, we are sending a strong support message to our neighboring country Poland and NATO in general."
The newly deployed troops and Eurofighter fighter jets in Poland are planned to remain on duty until March of next year in the initial phase.
