Heavy rainfall in Giresun caused floods and landslides. In the Köseler village of Tirebolu district, a house collapsed while tilting, and 4 houses were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The rainfall uprooted trees and there were nearly 50 reports of people being trapped and landslides, among other incidents, received by the teams.
Severe rainfall that started in the evening hours in Giresun and intensified during the night caused material damage in the city center and the districts of Tirebolu, Espiye, and Doğankent. Following the floods and landslides, a house collapsed in the Köseler village of Tirebolu district, and 4 houses were evacuated as a precaution.
Starting from 21:20, floods and landslides occurred in the inner parts of the city center, Tirebolu, Espiye, and Doğankent districts due to excessive rainfall. About 50 reports of being stranded, floods, landslides, and soil slippage were received from the mentioned region to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
COLLAPSED HOUSE TURNED INTO RUBBLE
Upon receiving a report of a collapsed house in the Köseler village of Tirebolu district, teams were dispatched to the scene, and it was determined that there was no one inside the collapsed house. In the same village, 4 houses were evacuated as a precaution due to flood and landslide damage. There were no casualties or injuries in the disaster, but there was material damage.
Tirebolu-Doğankent road was closed to traffic due to landslides near the 6 Martyrs bridge, but after night-long work, the road was reopened to one lane. More than 50 search and rescue teams, including AFAD teams from Samsun and Ordu, as well as AKUT and volunteers, were dispatched to the region to evacuate and rescue stranded citizens.
CALL TO CITIZENS: "FOLLOW THE WARNINGS"
While the repair of the roads affected by landslides continues, it was stated that the rainfall will continue to be effective throughout the day today, and citizens were asked to stay away from areas at risk of floods and landslides and to follow the warnings of the authorities. Giresun Governor Mehmet Fatih Serdengeçti conducted inspections in the flood area throughout the night and received information from the officials.
