Turkish Football Federation President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu announced that a foreign and world-class referee will officiate the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby, which will be played in the 25th week of the Trendyol Super League. Following this development, Galatasaray informed the TFF that it does not want one of the four possible referees.
FEATURED REFEREES As a result of consultations held at the TFF, the names that stood out were Slavko Vincic from Slovenia, Istvan Kovacs from Romania, Clement Turpin from France, and Szymon Marciniak from Poland.
GALATASARAY DOES NOT WANT VINCIC Upon learning that one of these names is Slavko Vincic, Galatasaray Club took action and informed the TFF that it does not want Vincic due to Fenerbahçe Vice President Acun Ilıcalı's ownership of Maribor Club in Slovenia. The 45-year-old referee, who was born in Maribor, also has close ties with Slovenian UEFA President Alexander Cefer.
Slavko Vincic TFF IMMEDIATELY REJECTED On the other hand, the federation responded immediately to the yellow-reds' request. According to the news from Yağız Sabuncuoğlu; TFF gave a negative response to Galatasaray after the Vincic application. TFF informed the clubs that it would not respond to the requests of both teams regarding the foreign center referee to be appointed for the derby. It was stated that the final decision would be jointly made by the TFF and MHK and announced to the public through the official site.
