Göztepe holds Ali Koç responsible for what happened: He provoked our fans.

Goztepe made a statement regarding the incidents that occurred in the match played at their home stadium against Fenerbahce last night. The yellow-red club showed a strong reaction to the attack on Fenerbahce's president, Ali Koc, in the said statement.

"THEY ENTERED WITHOUT PERMISSION TO PROVOKE OUR FANS"

The statement made by Goztepe is as follows;

"During the league match played with Fenerbahce in our stadium yesterday, unauthorized entry to the areas where only accredited individuals can enter, despite all the warnings of our CEO Kerem Ertan, while the match was still going on and in a way that would provoke our fans, is unacceptable.

We leave it to the public's discretion the possible consequences of such an action taking place in Fenerbahce's or any other club's stadium.

"WE WILL TAKE ALL LEGAL STEPS"

We state that we definitely do not approve of these images that have nothing to do with football, which occurred on the field, and we will take all legal steps and follow up on the matter in order for the perpetrators of this act, which clearly constitutes a crime within the scope of Law No. 6222 on Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports, to receive the necessary punishment, and we respectfully announce this to the sports community."

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the 2nd week of the Super Lig, the match between Goztepe and Fenerbahce was marked by the throwing of foreign objects at Fenerbahce President Ali Koc and his fall to the ground. In the first half, which ended with Fenerbahce leading 2-0, the field got chaotic in the early minutes of the second half. Fenerbahce President Ali Koc went to the away stand to support the yellow-blue fans who couldn't enter the stands. While leaving the stand under security measures and heading towards the tunnel where the players exit, bottles and foreign objects were thrown at President Koc from the stands. Ali Koc fell to the ground after being hit by a bottle and pushed by one of the officials, and then a scuffle broke out between the host club officials and Ali Koc and his bodyguards. Referee Kadir Saglam stopped the game during this time, and the match resumed after President Koc left the field.

ATTACKER SENTENCED TO HOUSE ARREST

Ali Koc filed a criminal complaint against the person who pushed him and all the officials who were negligent in the incident that occurred during the Goztepe match. Upon this, the teams of the Izmir Provincial Police Department Sports Security Branch detained Fatih Ozkan, who pushed Koc and made him fall while he was walking on the sidelines. After the statement procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the courthouse. After the interrogation at the prosecutor's office, the suspect, who was brought before the peace criminal court with a request for arrest, was sentenced to house arrest. The person who attacked Ali Koc on the field stated in his statement, "I wanted to take Ali Koc out of the field. The ground was wet. I couldn't control my speed. I unintentionally pushed him hard. I didn't have the intention to harm him."
