Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made critical statements during a live broadcast he attended. Speaking on NTV's live broadcast, Fidan made noteworthy remarks regarding the overthrow of the Assad regime and the developments in Syria that followed. Fidan's statements are as follows: "I have been involved since the beginning of the process. The civil war started in 2011. Syria experienced a period when internal turmoil peaked at that time. Since this civil war was happening right next to us, we needed to develop a reflex. Our state has closely monitored this crisis from the very first day. Not a single working day has passed without me thinking about Syria. "WE HAVE EXPERIENCED VERY PESSIMISTIC DAYS"We wanted the well-being of the Syrian people even before the problem arose. At times, we had very pessimistic moments. The fall of Aleppo, our withdrawal to Idlib. We had serious operations in the fight against terrorism. Euphrates Shield, Peace Spring, Olive Branch. Turkey has fought against terrorism in the best way during this process. Due to the civil war in Syria, we hosted millions of people, and this number could have been higher. There were 5 million people living in areas controlled by the Syrian National Army (SMO). If this had not been the case, millions of people would have come to Turkey. The Turkish people patiently hosted them, but this burden could have increased."
