Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that "There are many steps that need to be taken together with the Peace Council" regarding the Peace Council established for Gaza.

Hakan Fidan made statements to the press after the signing ceremony of the Peace Council Charter at the Davos Summit.

"THERE ARE MANY STEPS THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN"

Fidan said, "In fact, the Peace Council is a place where many countries come together to really try to harmonize their different views. This harmonization is not an easy task; it brings along serious diplomatic negotiations and struggles. Now we are witnessing that the fight in the field has now been brought to the negotiation table. There are many steps that need to be taken together with the Peace Council."

"I THINK IT WILL BECOME MORE VALUABLE"

Stating that there are steps that need to be taken for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza and that these are being discussed, Fidan conveyed the following:

"We are currently discussing what kind of initial actions the committee, composed of Palestinians who have started working, needs to implement. These are quite concrete issues, and as they are realized, I believe that the Peace Council will become more valuable both in terms of humanitarian aid and other matters."

"SYRIA'S UNITY IS IMPORTANT FOR US"

Regarding the recent developments in Syria, Fidan stated, "The developments in Syria are essentially, as you know, some facts that we have always emphasized repeatedly at certain intervals. We have always tried to play a constructive role, and we will continue to do so. Syria's unity and integrity are important for us. It is primarily important for the Syrians and important for the region."

Recalling that Syria has spent the last 14 years in civil war, Fidan said, "It is truly a miraculous matter for our region to evolve from a country that exports terrorism and refugees to its neighboring countries to a Syria that is now evolving towards integrity, taking back its refugees and stopping terrorism."
