In a gallery in Maltepe, a 15-year-old boy accidentally fired an unlicensed shotgun he picked up to take a photo. His 16-year-old friend was shot and died at the scene.
A terrible incident occurred in the Maltepe district of Istanbul in the evening hours.
THE RIFLE FIRED ACCIDENTALLY
The incident took place around 21:00 at a gallery on Eski Üsküdar Street in the Zümrütevler neighborhood. A child named M.A.Y., who wanted to take a photo to upload to social media, picked up an unlicensed rifle belonging to the gallery owner C.Y. While posing for the photo, the rifle accidentally fired. The child's friend, Berat Işık, was shot.
DIED AT THE SCENE
Upon notification, police and emergency medical teams arrived at the scene. During the health team's checks, it was determined that Berat Işık, who was shot in the neck by pellets from the rifle, had lost his life. After the police's investigations at the scene, the child's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute's morgue. C.Y., the gallery owner who possessed the unlicensed rifle, and M.A.Y. were taken into custody. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
