Bilen Balta, who attacked the AK Party Iğdır Provincial Headquarters building with a machete, stated in his testimony, "In my dream at night, a being in white clothes with an unseen face appeared to me and asked me to take the machete in my hand, to hold accountable those who incite people against each other and commit wrongdoings, and to convey a message to them."

Bilen Balta, who attacked the AK Party Provincial Headquarters building in Iğdır with a machete and was taken into custody, was referred to the court after his statement at the prosecutor's office. Following his statement, Bilen B. was sent to Samsun Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital to determine whether he was of sound mind.

HE BROKE THE WINDOWS WITH A MACHETE

The incident occurred yesterday morning at the AK Party Provincial Headquarters located in the Emir Ensar Apartment in the Bağlar neighborhood. Bilen Balta, who arrived with a machete, first rang the doorbell. After waiting in front of the door for a while, the suspect broke the door's windows with the machete. Once the door was opened, Balta entered the building, shouting and insulting. Upon receiving a report, security forces were dispatched to the address, where they managed to convince the suspect and take him into custody. The attacker was taken to the Police Department by the police. AK Party Provincial Chairman Ali Kemal Ayaz condemned the incident, stating that such attacks would not intimidate them.

"I SAW A BEING IN A WHITE OUTFIT WITH AN INVISIBLE FACE IN MY DREAM"

After completing his statement at the police station, Bilen Balta was referred to the courthouse today. Stating that his statements at the police and prosecutor's office were true, Balta claimed that he carried out the attack because he saw it in his dream and wanted to convey a message. He asserted that he woke up around 07:00 on the day of the incident and was under the influence of the dream he had that night, saying, "I saw a being in a white outfit with an invisible face in my dream. It told me to take the machete and hold accountable those who create discord among people and do wrong, and to send them a message. So I woke up in the morning remembering this dream. I left the house with a machete. I asked those I encountered or acquaintances where the AK Party provincial building was. Those who saw the machete in my hand were anxious and did not want to tell me. When I couldn't find the AK Party provincial building, I thought of going to the municipality building. I had questions I wanted to ask the Mayor and things I wanted to express my anger about. So I suddenly headed towards the municipality building. No one stopped me as I entered the municipality building; they were already scared. While I was asking where the Mayor's office was, at that moment, the Mayor was coming down with two people. I greeted him, and he returned my greeting, and I asked him questions like 'What is this trustee issue, what is the Palestine issue, what is the Kurdish issue, are the strings in someone else's hands, are you collaborating with the AK Party?' However, the Mayor also became anxious and, out of fear, did not give me any answer. He said, 'I have work' and left," he said.

"I GAVE THE MACHETE TO THE POLICE"

Balta stated that he also asked the Mayor where the AK Party provincial building was, but the Mayor said, 'I don't know,' and left the municipality. He said:

"When the Mayor left, I also went out. I went to a friend's shop in the Russian Bazaar and asked him where the AK Party provincial building was. He briefly told me it was at the entrance of the governor's road. However, when he saw the machete in my hand, he got scared and said, 'Don't be ridiculous, you'll get into trouble, don't do it.' After I left there, I headed towards the AK Party provincial building. They directed me to the entrance at the back of the building. When I couldn't enter from the back, I broke the window of the door and opened it. I went inside up to the first floor. Meanwhile, the police also came after me due to the noise. They asked me to drop the machete, but I didn't. They showed me their guns to warn me, and I told them I wouldn't drop it and not to approach me. I said to the police, 'If you want, shoot me, or give it to me, I'll shoot myself.' Then one or two police officers came over and said, 'Let's talk to you,' and at that moment, my father was also there, so I said 'okay' and handed the machete to the police, and we all left together. During all this, I did not injure anyone or cause harm to anyone. While trying to break in through the back door of the party building, I insulted the President out of anger, as I mentioned in my statement at the police station. This is how the events unfolded; I have nothing else to add."

HE WAS REFERRED TO THE MENTAL AND NEUROLOGICAL DISEASES HOSPITAL

The court decided to send Bilen Balta, who has three separate criminal cases for 'disturbing the peace of individuals', 'threat', and 'using narcotic and stimulant substances', to Samsun Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital to determine whether he was of sound mind. Meanwhile, the police, who collected security camera footage related to the incident, found that there were no recordings when they went to obtain the footage from the municipality that the attacker mentioned in his statement. The police seized the recording device because Balta was detected entering the municipality by other cameras.
