A person who climbed a bridge in the Manavgat district of Antalya with a rope around his neck and a knife in his hand was persuaded by the police. It was determined that this individual had attempted suicide for the seventh time, and it was learned that he had previously climbed a highway bridge in Manavgat in 2020 with a rope tied around his neck.
In the Örnek neighborhood of Manavgat district, a report was made that an individual attempted suicide with a knife outside the railing of the Şükrü Sözen Bridge, prompting the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, 112 health services, and Manavgat Police Department teams to spring into action.
As the teams arrived at the scene quickly, curious citizens formed a large crowd around the bridge. The individual named Osman B., who had a rope around his neck and a knife in his hand, stated that he would end his life. Thanks to the efforts of Sinan Karaman, the Chief of the Public Order Bureau of the Manavgat Police Department, he abandoned his act and was safely taken to a secure area amidst applause. It was learned that the 55-year-old father of three, identified as Osman B., was taken by police to Manavgat State Hospital for a check-up.

Moreover, it was learned that Osman B. had attempted suicide 7 times until today. On July 1, 2020, Osman B. had tied a rope to the railings of the Manavgat Ring Road bridge and wrapped it around his neck, causing moments of fear as he trembled and held his heart. He was dissuaded from suicide by a team from the central gendarmerie station passing by the bridge, who promised him, 'We will find you a job as soon as possible.'
