The Ministry of National Education has made an important regulation in the transition process to the teaching profession by focusing on the preparatory training to be provided at the National Education Academy. With the new decision, candidates who complete this training will not be required to have a pedagogical formation certificate.
The Ministry of National Education (MEB) has implemented a comprehensive change that directly affects teacher appointments and the preparation processes for the profession. With the regulation published in the December 2025 issue of the Official Gazette numbered 2817, some conditions applied for entering the teaching profession have been redefined.
THE REQUIREMENT FOR PEDAGOGICAL FORMATION HAS BEEN REMOVED
According to the changes made in the "Principles of Teaching Areas, Appointments, and Course Instruction," the requirement for pedagogical formation has been removed for candidates accepted into the preparatory training provided by the National Education Academy. Thus, candidates who graduate from faculties that serve as a source for the teaching profession and successfully complete the training at the Academy will no longer be required to obtain a formation certificate from universities.
ACADEMY TRAINING WILL BE THE BASIS OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE
The regulation has formalized that the preparatory training to be provided at the National Education Academy will replace pedagogical formation. The Ministry aims for teacher candidates to acquire their professional knowledge and skills during this training process.
OPPORTUNITY FOR FIELD CHANGE FOR CLASS TEACHERS
The "Temporary Article 8" included in the regulation also contains provisions for field changes for currently serving class teachers. Accordingly, class teachers who complete the necessary training will be able to transition to the fields of Special Education Class Teaching and Technology and Design. These transitions will be carried out upon the completion of training periods and in line with the needs of the institutions.
