Gökhan Eller, who killed his wife Selda Eller after deciding on a consensual divorce in Manisa, described the incident in his statement: "She told me, 'I will take everything from you, I will not comply with the agreement or the protocol, I will sleep with your closest friends in this bed.' I started to strangle Selda with an object I had in my hand, like a piece of clothing or a towel. After squeezing for 4 seconds, Selda fell to the ground."

A lawsuit has been filed against Gökhan Eller (40), who strangled his wife Selda Eller (40) during their divorce process in the Yunusemre district of Manisa, with a request for aggravated life imprisonment. The indictment states that the couple divorced in 2018 and remarried on the condition that the title deed of the house they purchased 10 months later would be in Selda Eller’s name.

Gökhan Eller, who works at Yunusemre Municipality, and Selda Eller, who runs a beauty salon, decided to divorce amicably due to incompatibility. While waiting for a court hearing date, on September 23, Selda Eller went to the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and reported that she had been subjected to violence, obtaining a restraining order against her husband. While the decision was communicated to Gökhan Eller by the police, it is alleged that Selda Eller called her husband and told him to come home and collect his belongings. Gökhan Eller went to their house in the Güzelyurt neighborhood and strangled his wife Selda Eller with a piece of cloth he grabbed during the ensuing argument. Gökhan Eller then went to the police station, confessed to killing his wife, and surrendered. After the procedures at the police station, Gökhan Eller was arrested on September 24. It was learned that the couple, who had been married for 20 years, had two children, one male and one female.

"60% OF THE HOUSE WOULD BE MINE, 40% WOULD BE SELDA'S"

The indictment prepared by the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for Gökhan Eller has been completed. The indictment requests that Gökhan Eller be tried for the crime of 'intentional murder of a spouse' with aggravated life imprisonment. In his statement included in the indictment, Gökhan Eller stated that he divorced his wife Selda Eller in 2018, and after being apart for 10 months, they remarried on the condition that the title deed of the house they purchased would be in his wife's name, saying, "During our marriage, Selda cheated on me. After I learned this, we had an argument. About three weeks before the incident, we decided to divorce again and made a protocol between us. According to the protocol, 60% of the house we lived in would be mine, and 40% would be Selda's. We filed for divorce along with the protocol. On the day of the incident, I went to work and was called by the police just before the end of my shift, learning that Selda had obtained a restraining order against me. After a while, Selda called me and said she wanted me to come home and collect my belongings, and I went home."

"I SQUEEZED HER NECK FOR 4 SECONDS"

Claiming that Selda Eller insulted him when he went to the house to collect his belongings, Gökhan Eller recounted: "We started to argue. She said to me, 'I will take everything from you, I will not comply with the agreement, the protocol, I will sleep with your closest friends in this bed.' I was taken aback by this. I started to squeeze Selda's neck with an object I grabbed, like a piece of clothing or a towel. After squeezing for 4 seconds, Selda fell to the ground. While she was on the ground, blood came from her nose or mouth, then I left the house. When I left the house, she was still breathing. I called my friend and asked him to call an ambulance. Then I went and surrendered to the police."
