77-year-old Hatice Özsoy, living alone in Eskişehir, lost her life due to gas leaking from a camping cylinder she used to heat water for a shower. Neighbors, noticing the smell of gas spreading in the apartment building, broke down the door and found Özsoy motionless in the bathroom. Health teams arriving at the scene confirmed that the elderly woman had passed away.
Hatice Özsoy, 71, who lived alone in Eskişehir, died from gas poisoning after a leak from a camping stove she used to heat water for a shower.
The incident occurred on Name Street in the Çankaya neighborhood of Odunpazarı district. According to reports, Hatice Özsoy, who lived alone, lit a camping stove to heat water in a boiler in the bathroom for a shower.
After a while, Özsoy became ill from the gas leaking from the stove. Neighbors, who noticed a strong gas smell in the building, went to the elderly woman's apartment and knocked on the door. Receiving no response, they broke down the door and entered.
FOUND UNCONSCIOUS IN BATHROOM
The neighbors found Hatice Özsoy unconscious in the bathroom. Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Health officials determined that Özsoy had died. Initial assessments suggest the elderly woman was poisoned by gas leaking from the camping stove.
TAKEN TO MORGUE FOR AUTOPSY
Hatice Özsoy's body was taken to the Eskişehir City Hospital morgue for an autopsy after the scene investigation. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
