Fatma Kovan, who claims she left her life behind and moved to Mardin for A.K., whom she met online while living in Bodrum, Muğla, later fled with her 1-year-old daughter, who was intended to be betrothed. Following this, Kovan lost approximately 55 million lira worth of her assets. Kovan, who initiated a legal battle, stated that she trusts in justice and will continue her fight.
According to the claim, Fatma Kovan (34), who lives in Bodrum, Muğla, met A.K. (45) on the internet in 2019. After dating for a while, the couple decided to have a religious marriage. Subsequently, Kovan moved to A.K.'s village of Kayacık in Derik, Mardin. During this process, Kovan allegedly closed her restaurant based on her boyfriend's belief that women should not work. During this time, Kovan also lost her apartment, which she had given to A.K., who claimed he could not take out a loan.
"HE WANTED TO ARRANGE A TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE FOR MY 1-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER"
While living in Mardin, the couple had a daughter. Kovan allegedly went crazy when she learned one day that her daughter was to be arranged for a traditional marriage. Following this, Fatma Kovan fled with her daughter. Allegedly, A.K. transferred the villa that belonged to Kovan to his uncle after taking power of attorney from her. Afterward, Kovan, who could not retrieve her belongings, obtained a restraining order against A.K. and initiated a legal battle to reclaim her assets worth approximately 55 million lira.
"I FLED WITH MY DAUGHTER"
Kovan, who stated that she met A.K. at the end of 2019 and separated at the end of 2023, said, "After we separated, he took my assets from me. The reason for our separation was his indifference to my reaction to wanting to arrange a traditional marriage for my 1-year-old daughter and his acceptance of it. He wanted me to remain indifferent about this. He lives in the village of Derikkayacık in Mardin. He has his own daughters-in-law and sisters-in-law. He told me that he arranged a traditional marriage for my daughter. When I explained this situation to him, he told me to keep my mouth shut. He tried to silence me. I fled with my daughter from there," she said.
"HE MADE ME SELL MY LAND"
Kovan, who claimed to have had a restaurant and apartments in Bodrum Mumcular before meeting A.K., said, "Our legal process is still ongoing. I also won the moral compensation case. I never had a restaurant, an apartment, or any real estate before. I had a piece of land in Milas. It was inherited from my grandfather. I had assets that came from Denizli. After this person entered my life, the properties he defrauded from me were my apartment, my land in Miras Beyciler, and my villa. I bought my apartment in 2017 with cash. After this person entered my life, he first made me close my restaurant. We closed it because he said that in our culture, women do not work and stay at home. Then he told me he would take a loan from the Agricultural Credit Cooperative (ÇKS) and said he couldn't get a loan because he had no property in Bodrum. So, I gave him my entrusted apartment. Later, he did not return my apartment. After a while, he made me sell my land, saying we were going to Mardin and that we were enduring all that distance. On the day I sold my land, 4 million lira was deposited into his account. I transferred the money from the sale of my land to his account for him to buy a car. This person bought a luxury vehicle," she stated.
"I STAYED THERE FOR 3.5 YEARS, LIVED IN A VILLAGE WITH 4 HOUSES"
Kovan, who claimed she went to Mardin to take care of her boyfriend's parents, said, "I left my comfort in Bodrum. I dressed like them there. I adapted to the culture there. I did everything I needed to do. I did it out of conscience. I took care of them because they were very old. I stayed there for 3.5 years. I lived in a village with 4 houses. And the entire family of this person was coming and going to my house," she expressed.
"WE WENT THROUGH A VERY DIFFICULT PERIOD"
Duran, who said she went through very difficult days during the time she lost her brother, stated, "When third parties called him and asked why he did such a thing, he would return to me with a child in his arms. That's why I took his assets. I mean, he took them completely out of his greed. Additionally, he transferred my villa to his uncle after we separated using the power of attorney. I had given him this power of attorney for a necessary amount related to the transplant of my brother, who I lost due to liver disease, in 2021. At that time, it was during the pandemic. I later forgot about this power of attorney. We went through a very difficult period. We lost my young brother. This gentleman, who never forgot, transferred my villa to his uncle's name within the same month after we separated, just a few days apart from the power of attorney I gave him. Despite me obtaining a restraining order. The court placed a precautionary measure on the properties," she said.
"HE DID THIS BECAUSE I FLED WITH MY DAUGHTER"
Kovan claimed that A.K. continued to contact her surroundings, stating, "He continues to exert pressure on me and contacts my surroundings. There is currently a restraining order. Whenever I express my goodwill to him, he displays the same attitude regarding my daughter," she said.
Kovan, who claimed to have lost a total of approximately 55 million lira in assets, stated, "There is justice in this country. I trust in justice. He did this because I fled with my daughter. My struggle will continue. I have documents for my properties, and no one can deceive this state," she stated.
