The suspects appeared in court regarding the death of 16-year-old Hiranur Aygar, who was shot in the head with a gun in a car in Mersin. The defendant, Hüseyin Arda Şark, changed his suicide statement and claimed that the incident occurred during a joke.

The detained suspects in the case regarding the death of Hiranur Aygar appeared before the judge for the first time.

The incident occurred on August 31, late at night, in the Toroslar district. Hiranur Aygar was severely injured after being shot in the head with a gun and was taken to Mersin City Hospital by car. Her boyfriend, Hüseyin Arda Şark, who took Aygar to the hospital, stated in his testimony to the hospital police, "Hira has been my girlfriend for about 2 months. We had gone to a military celebration together. During this time, I fired my gun into the air. On the way back, we stopped at a market on Sebahattin Çakmakoğlu Street in Akbelen neighborhood with my friends Nazmi Çetin and Mustafa Zeybek. We got out of the car. At that moment, Hira, who remained in the car, took the gun and shot herself in the head," he said.

HE CHANGED HIS STATEMENT; SHOT WHILE JOKING

Following the contradictory statements of Zeybek and Çetin, the Homicide Bureau team initiated an investigation and detained three suspects. In his second statement, suspect Şark said that he pointed the empty gun at his girlfriend's forehead while joking and pulled the trigger, and that they did not go to the hospital immediately after the incident, but first left Hiranur Aygar in a wooded area and then picked her up again to take her to the hospital. Blood traces were found during the search conducted at the specified location. After the autopsy procedures, Aygar's body was buried by her relatives amid tears. The three suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before.

INDICTMENT PREPARED

The indictment prepared by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the suspects was accepted by the Mersin 5th High Criminal Court. In the indictment, it was requested that suspect Şark be punished for 'intentional killing of a child' and 'possession of an unlicensed firearm', while Çetin and Zengin were requested to be punished for 'destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime.'

FIRST HEARING HELD

The first hearing of the case was held at the Mersin 5th High Criminal Court. The detained suspects participated in the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) from the prison where they were held, while lawyers and Hiranur's parents were present in the courtroom.

"IT HAPPENED WHILE JOKING"

In his defense during the hearing, suspect Hüseyin Arda Şark said, "On the day of the incident, we all went to a military celebration together. I took the gun with me to shoot into the air at the celebration. After firing into the air, a friend of mine took the gun. When I checked the magazine afterward, it was empty. After the wedding, we stopped at a booth on the way home. We had some alcohol. When I returned to the car, I was waiting outside to smoke. At that moment, I handed the gun to Hiranur. We were joking with it. She asked, 'Should I pull the trigger?' I wanted to take it back, saying 'You can't joke with a gun.' It wasn't in my hand at that moment. At that moment, the gun went off. We both knew there was no bullet in the gun because I had checked it after the wedding. After the incident, I panicked, got scared, and went into shock. Out of fear, I took Hiranur to the edge of the stream and left her there. I went home. I told my brother. He got angry when he heard about the incident. Then we picked Hiranur up from where we left her and took her to the hospital," he said.

"WE COULDN'T CONVINCE HER TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL"

Mustafa Zengin, one of the detained suspects against whom an indictment was prepared for destroying evidence, said, "We did not destroy any evidence. After leaving the booth, Hiranur, who was sitting in the back seat, was talking to Hüseyin outside the car. Hüseyin asked Hiranur, 'Should I pull the trigger?' When she laughed and said, 'Go ahead, go ahead,' the gun suddenly went off. After the incident, we told Hüseyin, 'Let's take Hiranur to the hospital.' We couldn't convince him. In shock, we went with him. After leaving Hiranur there, we went and picked her up and took her to the hospital," he said.

Detained suspect Nazmi Çetin also denied the allegations against him regarding the destruction of evidence.

"THEY TOOK MY DAUGHTER AWAY FROM LIFE"

Hiranur's mother, Gülten Tan, stated that her daughter had been in a relationship with suspect Şark for about 2 months. She noted that she had told her daughter to stay away from the suspect, saying, "They took my daughter away from life. This is not a joke or an accident. This incident is murder."

Father Murat Aygar also stated that he was complaining about the suspects, saying, "My daughter's life should not be anyone's joke material. I trust the Turkish justice system."

The court, which also heard the lawyers and witnesses, postponed the hearing to address the deficiencies. It was decided to continue the detention of the suspects.
