30.11.2024 15:01

In Antalya, Harun A. (27), who hijacked a minibus by threatening the driver with a knife while saying, "Tomorrow the apocalypse will come," was caught after a 30-kilometer chase by the police, when he crashed into parked vehicles. Turgut Okur, the owner of the vehicle who arrived at the scene, reacted to Harun A. by saying, "I have only one vehicle, what do you want?"

In the Muratpaşa district of Antalya, Harun A. approached the parked closed van with the license plate 07 ANM 926 on his motorcycle, threatened the driver Turgut Okur by showing him a knife, and stole the vehicle. Turgut Okur, who was frightened, moved a little away from the street and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. While a police team was dispatched to the scene upon the notification, Harun A., who loaded the motorcycle onto the vehicle, fled the area before the teams arrived.

A 30-KILOMETER CHASE OCCURRED

The teams, which blocked all routes that Harun A. could escape, took precautions on Cırnık Street, Kundu Road, and Serik Road. The police teams closed off all the roads that Harun A. could use to escape. After approximately a 30-kilometer chase, Harun A. crashed into a parked car on 919 Street in the Kızıltoprak neighborhood.

THE CAR WINDOW WAS BROKEN WITH A GUN GRIP

To get out of the vehicle, Harun A. first raised a police gun into the air and then broke the window with the grip. Harun A., who was taken out of the vehicle, was laid on the ground and handcuffed. After being searched, Harun A. was taken into the police vehicle and transported to the police station.

"I HAVE ONE VEHICLE"

Turgut Okur, the owner of the vehicle who arrived at the scene and could not hold back his tears, clung to Harun A.'s collar as he was being taken to the police vehicle by the teams and said, "I have one vehicle, what do you want?" Okur, who was calmed down by the police, was removed from the area.

"TOMORROW THERE WILL BE A DOOMSDAY"

Describing the terrifying moments he experienced, vehicle owner Turgut Okur said, "My vehicle was parked. This person approached me. He seems to be mentally unstable. He told me, 'Tomorrow there will be a doomsday. I need to take this vehicle.' At that moment, I immediately called the police and informed them. Just as the police were arriving at the scene, this person started to flee with the vehicle. While driving, he also endangered traffic. In the end, he got stuck in this street and crashed into a car. The police caught him," he said.

Hakan Elçik, a teacher at a nearby school whose parked car was hit, said, "I didn't see how he crashed. He came and hit us. I have a lot of damage."
