In Elazığ, a woman caught begging was released, only to be caught again by municipal police while begging at a different mosque.
BEGGING NETWORK CAUGHT RED-HANDED
Teams from the Elazığ Municipality Police Department conducted a large-scale operation across the city targeting individuals who exploit citizens' religious and spiritual feelings by begging. During inspections at mosque entrances, squares, and main arteries, a begging network determined to be operating in an organized manner was caught red-handed.
CAUGHT AGAIN AFTER BEING RELEASED
During identity checks, it was established that the apprehended individuals had come to Elazığ from Osmaniye for the purpose of begging. The relaxed attitudes of the individuals taken to the Police Department drew attention. While media members were filming, one beggar waved at the cameras, and another entered the department building playfully, moments captured on camera.
After legal procedures were completed and they were released, it was determined that one of the beggars resumed begging shortly afterward in front of another mosque in the city. Noticing the situation, municipal police teams apprehended the person again and initiated legal proceedings.
When questioned by the teams, the beggar caught in the operation tried to defend himself by saying, "I swear we are going to Batman."
