Health Minister Memişoğlu: The investigation into the newborn gang began in May 2023 with our tip-off, and closure penalties were imposed on the units of the hospitals.

The Ministry of Health stated regarding the investigation into the "newborn gang" in Istanbul, "The incident was detected in May 2023 through an operation carried out in cooperation with the Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate and the Police Department, legal actions have been taken, and the matter has been referred to the judicial authorities."

Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu, speaking about the 'newborn' gang, also stated in his subsequent remarks, "These are individuals who have not experienced humanity. They are truly a barbaric and unacceptable gang. We have always pursued this and will continue to do so. We will not allow wrongful practices."

Memişoğlu's statement is as follows:

"Our health system is capable of providing the best health services in the world and is an example to the world. We will not allow illegality and wrongful practices. This is Turkey's value. Unfortunately, there are attacks on these values of Turkey. We are taking all necessary precautions in this regard. The public is being occupied with the organization of some individuals who have not experienced humanity regarding the newborn gang. Unacceptable illegality.

As a state, we will always pursue this. This is a process that started in May 2023 with a report from the Provincial Health Directorate to the financial branch and the prosecutor's office. With the organization that began with the letter from the Provincial Health Directorate, along with the detection and proof, the criminals were arrested during this process.

Among them were some health workers as well as non-health workers. The judicial process is ongoing. In this process, both as a necessity and for punishment, we are doing what is required as the state, and as the Ministers of Health, Justice, and Interior.
