Police officer Fethi Sekin, who was martyred 8 years ago while heroically fighting against PKK terrorists in front of the courthouse in İzmir, was commemorated at his grave in his hometown Elazığ. A commemoration program was held at Sekin's grave in the village of Doğancık in the Baskil district of Elazığ. Citizens, students, and provincial protocol gathered at the martyr's grave to pray. The program started with the reading of the National Anthem, followed by speeches from the martyr Fethi Sekin's siblings, the reading of the composition that won first place in 2024, the awarding of a medal to the first place shooter in honor of Martyr Police Fethi Sekin, and the reading of poems by students. The commemoration ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Recep Gündüz, Baskil District Governor Hasan Hüsnü Türker, Provincial Police Chief Adnan Karayel, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Alpaslan Doğan, NGO representatives, family members, and citizens. "Police officer Fethi Sekin has written his name in golden letters in history with his heroism. Today, he bravely confronted the traitors with his service pistol, sacrificing his life for the innocent judges, prosecutors, lawyers, and civilians. He has reached the highest rank of martyrdom. Like our martyr, his colleagues and our security forces will continue to fight heroically against terrorists, traitors, and evildoers, and they will continue to do so," he said.
