According to TÜİK data, in 2025, a total of 5,347 foreign grooms got married across Turkey, accounting for 1% of all grooms. Among foreign grooms, Syrians ranked first with 20.9%, followed by German and Afghan grooms.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published the Marriage and Divorce Statistics for the year 2025. Accordingly, the number of couples getting married, which was 569,983 in 2024, decreased to 552,237 in 2025. The crude marriage rate, which expresses the number of marriages per thousand population, was realized as 6.43 per thousand in 2025.

Marriages with foreigners also drew attention among total marriages. In 2025, the number of foreign grooms was 5,347, accounting for 1 percent of total grooms. The number of foreign brides reached 28,646, making up 5.2 percent of total brides.

SYRIANS IN FIRST PLACE

When the distribution by nationality was examined, Syrians ranked first among foreign grooms with 20.9 percent. They were followed by German grooms with 18.8 percent and Afghan grooms with 5 percent. Among foreign brides, Syrians also ranked first with 13.8 percent. Uzbek brides were second with 13.7 percent, while Moroccan brides were third with 9.6 percent. The data revealed that while there was a decrease in the number of marriages in 2025, the rate of foreign brides was higher than that of foreign grooms.

191,371 CHILDREN AFFECTED BY DIVORCE CASES

As a result of finalized divorce cases, 193,793 couples divorced in 2025, and 191,371 children were granted custody. It was observed that in divorce cases, custody of the children was mostly granted to the mother. In 2025, 74.6 percent of the children's custody was given to the mother, while 25.4 percent was given to the father.
