Experts from Kocaeli University analyzed the sounds of the seismic waves generated instantly by the 6.2 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul. Here is the sound of the 6.2 earthquake that caused great fear.

The sound at the moment of the 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul was recorded. Dr. Hamdullah Livaoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erman Şentürk from Kocaeli University stated, "The sound starts with a high pitch and represents the energy released by the main shock as spectral power density."

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Silivri in Istanbul. Citizens, who experienced great panic, took to the streets. AFAD announced that there was another earthquake of 4.9 magnitude in the Sea of Marmara at 15:12. Dr. Hamdullah Livaoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erman Şentürk from Kocaeli University analyzed the seismic data related to the earthquake off Silivri. Experts converted the seismic signal obtained from the East-West component of the station that recorded the highest ground acceleration of the earthquake into an audible form.

"DIFFERENT MANIFESTATIONS OF SEISMIC WAVES SHAKING THE EARTH"

In a statement regarding the issue, Dr. Hamdullah Livaoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erman Şentürk from Kocaeli University said, "The analysis of the East-West component earthquake signal from the station that recorded the highest ground acceleration of the 6.2 Mw magnitude earthquake and its audible sound form. The sound starts with a high pitch and represents the energy released by the main shock as spectral power density. The earthquake does not have a sound; vibration frequencies are characterized and converted into an audible form. The phenomenon of earthquake sound is not a quantitative measure in seismology, but rather a different manifestation of seismic waves that spread from the focus and shake the Earth, reaching the ground."
