The first female mayor of Manisa, Gülşah Durbay, lost her battle for life in intensive care, and her last words broke hearts. According to her close friend Lal Denizli, Durbay said, "We wrote a very tragic story, didn't we?" as she bid farewell to life.
The first female mayor of Manisa, Şehzadeler Municipality Mayor Gülşah Durbay, passed away at Manisa City Hospital due to multiple organ failure caused by colon cancer. Durbay, who had been receiving treatment in intensive care for about 12 days and was connected to a respirator, left her family, loved ones, and party members in deep sorrow.
"THE STRONGEST WOMAN I'VE EVER SEEN"
Following Gülşah Durbay's passing, her close friend and colleague, Çeşme Mayor Lal Denizli, made an emotional post on social media expressing her grief. Denizli shared that one of Durbay's last words in intensive care was, "We wrote a very tragic story, didn't we?" and stated that the path they walked together transformed from friendship into sisterhood. In her post, Denizli described Durbay as "the strongest woman I've ever seen," while recounting her struggle and the significant void she left behind.
FUNERAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
The funeral program for Gülşah Durbay has also been announced. Accordingly, the body will be brought from the mortuary to Şehzadeler Municipality at 10:30 AM, and an official ceremony will be held in front of the municipality at 11:00 AM. After the official ceremony, the funeral will be taken to Hatuniye Mosque, and following the funeral prayer to be held at Cumhuriyet Square, she will be laid to rest at Koldere Cemetery. Condolences will be accepted for the first three days at Koldere Fatih Exhibition Hall, and on subsequent days at the family residence.
EMOTIONAL WORDS FROM ÖZEL
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also visited Manisa City Hospital to offer condolences to the family after Durbay's passing. Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Özel expressed his sorrow, stating, "The Durbay family has lost a child. The Republican People's Party family is also experiencing the pain of losing two children in a short time. Gülşah was a child of this city who has been involved in politics since her youth, carrying the flag of our party."
