The rapid increase in food and rent expenses is making life in the district increasingly difficult every day.

Muğla Planning Agency (MUPA) shared a report titled "Life in Bodrum is Alarmingly Challenging" on its social media account, revealing that living conditions in the district are increasingly deteriorating. According to the report, one in three residents of Bodrum is considering leaving the city due to rising housing costs.

46% OF RESIDENTS ARE EXPERIENCING FINANCIAL STRUGGLES

According to data compiled from the unpublished "Muğla Multiple Vulnerabilities Research Report," 46% of residents in Bodrum reported experiencing financial difficulties. According to a news article in Sözcü, 86.1% of participants in the study indicated that the largest increase in household expenses over the past decade has been in food items, while it was found that approximately one-third of the city struggles to access healthy and nutritious food. 33.8% of participants reported having difficulty accessing nutritious food, 38.3% said they rarely experience this difficulty, and 27.9% stated they never have issues.

ONE IN TWO HOUSEHOLDS IS A HOMEOWNER

The report noted that one in two households in Bodrum is a homeowner, while 22.6% of renters spend half of their income on rent. The study emphasized that rising housing costs are increasing the tendency to migrate from the city, with 23.7% of participants responding "yes" to the question, "Have you considered moving to another city or district due to rising housing costs?" and 10.8% planning to move to a district outside of Bodrum. Accordingly, it was revealed that one in three residents of the district is considering leaving Bodrum due to housing costs.
