The regulation proposed by the AK Party to the Parliament, which foresaw a one-time deduction of 750 TL from everyone with a card limit of 100,000 TL, was withdrawn following public backlash. During this process, citizens who reduced their card limits to avoid the 750 TL payment are receiving negative responses to their applications to banks to restore their limits to their previous amounts.
In the bill presented to the Parliament by the AK Party, it was proposed that a one-time 'Defense Industry Contribution Fee' of 750 lira be deducted from everyone with a credit card limit exceeding 100,000 lira, but the regulation was withdrawn following public backlash.
During the process of discussing the amendment, thousands of credit card users preferred to lower their credit card limits to avoid the 750 lira deduction, and the AK Party, which took a step back after the reactions, caused a new crisis in the banking sector.
APPLICATIONS ARE BEING REJECTED
Users who lowered their credit card limits applied again for their old limits after the cancellation of the 750 lira deduction. However, banks decided not to allocate the old credit card limits to many of their customers following the latest instructions sent by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) regarding credit card limits.
MESSAGES SENT TO CUSTOMERS ONE BY ONE
Customers who wanted to restore their card limits to their previous state were greatly disappointed by the SMS they received after their applications. Banks responded to the applications with the message, "As a result of the current evaluations, your limit increase application cannot be accepted."
