NO NEWS SINCE AUGUST 21
The incident occurred on the afternoon of August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district. Narin Güran, who was attending a Quran course, did not return home after class, so her family conducted a search on their own. When the search with the villagers did not yield any results, Narin's father, Arif Güran, went to the gendarmerie station on the same day around 8:00 PM and reported that his daughter was missing. As a result of the report, Bağlar District Gendarmerie Command, Bağlar Security Commando Battalion Command, Gendarmerie Special Operations teams, Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Teams (JASAT), Intelligence Branch Directorate, Dog Tracking Team, and Underwater Search and Rescue Team, as well as search and rescue teams from health, AFAD, and Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, were dispatched to the area.
EXTENSIVE SEARCH
During the operation, air support was provided with helicopters belonging to the gendarmerie and the Provincial Police Department. Additionally, approximately 150 vehicles that were determined to have passed through the area during the hours when Narin went missing were investigated. Searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and in vehicles entering the village. So far, a total of 12,550 vehicles have been searched, statements have been taken from 130 individuals, searches have been conducted in an area of more than 11,000 acres with the help of 7 tracking dogs.
SLIPPER FOUND, DIFFERENT NUMBER
During the search operation, a child's slipper was found on the side of the road on the night of August 22. The slipper, which was found about 3 kilometers away from the Güran family's house, was shown to Narin's parents. The couple stated that the slipper belonged to their daughter. The slipper was taken to the laboratory by the gendarmerie for examination. However, the family later stated that the slipper had a different number than Narin's.
"THE NOOSE IS TIGHTENING"
Brigadier General Selçuk Yıldırım said, "During this process, many tips have been received. We are following up on every tip, whether true or false. The noose is tightening at the moment. The General Command of the Gendarmerie is using all available resources, including underground imaging devices. Don't worry, our intention is to find our daughter safe and sound. We believe that there is very little time left. We have evidence and statements. We have recorded Narin's movements and activities in the village minute by minute, not just hour by hour. We are following up on this evidence and we are very close to a result. Hopefully, we will announce the good news about Narin very soon."
