Huge operation at Istanbul Airport! Drugs worth 20 million found in suitcase

22.5 kilograms of cannabis were seized in the suitcase of a passenger with a Spanish passport arriving from abroad at Istanbul Airport. The suspect, caught with drugs estimated to have a market value of approximately 20 million 300 thousand lira, was arrested by the court.

On Tuesday, June 9, at Istanbul Airport, teams from the Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence unit of the Ministry of Trade closely monitored a passenger arriving from abroad by plane as part of risk analysis efforts. The teams, who identified the passenger holding a Spanish passport at the baggage belt, took the suspect to the Customs Enforcement unit for a detailed search.

20 MILLION LIRA WORTH OF "CANNABIS" SEIZED

During searches using an X-Ray device on the passenger's suitcase, 22 kilograms and 500 grams of cannabis-type narcotics were seized in bags. While the suspect was taken into custody by customs teams, the market value of the seized narcotics was determined to be 20 million 300 thousand lira. After the statement procedures, the suspect was referred to Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse and was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
