Bilgen, who expressed her dissatisfaction with the negative comments about her, also explained why she participated in the competition.

"BEAUTY PAGEANTS ARE NOT JUST ABOUT PHYSICAL APPEARANCE"

Idil Bilgen, who was a guest on Ozlem Gurses' YouTube program, responded to the question "Why did you enter this competition, Idil? You are a medical school graduate, and you have an amazing family story. Didn't your father say 'What are you doing?'" as follows: "I think there is a very wrong perception in our country. This beauty pageant is not just about your physical appearance. In fact, Miss World selects and competes with highly qualified, educated, and beautiful women. Women who have inner beauty, intelligence, elegance, language skills, and the way they carry themselves appear beautiful... Beauty is a whole. It's not just physical beauty. I have research on cancer. I applied because I think I can represent our country successfully in this field. I want to show my cancer studies. I received the title of a physician before being crowned Miss Turkey. I also participated in the competition as a physician. This is my first title, and I will carry it proudly. Combining both the title of a physician and the title of beauty is a beautiful whole."
