177 YEARS OF PRISON SENTENCE WAS SOUGHT
In the 1399-page indictment prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that İlker Gönen was one of the defendants who managed the organization led by the defendant doctor Fırat Sarı.
In the indictment, for the deaths of 10 babies, the defendants Fırat Sarı and İlker Gönen were charged with "manslaughter by negligence," "qualified fraud," and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime" 10 times, and for "forgery in official documents," a total of 177 years and 6 months to 582 years and 9 months in prison was requested.
OPERATION
As part of the investigation conducted by the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that they transferred emergency baby patients to private hospitals with which they had pre-arranged agreements, causing their deaths and obtaining unjust profits. 16 suspects were identified, including the doctor Fırat Sarı, who is claimed to be the leader of the organized crime group.
On December 4 of last year, teams from the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Branch captured 14 suspects, including 5 doctors, 3 nurses, 5 healthcare workers, and 1 civilian, among whom was İlker Gönen, during an operation they conducted.
