Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu stated that in response to a complaint received by CİMER regarding his diploma, the Presidential Communication Center had replied five years ago that "the horizontal transfer is appropriate in every aspect," and that they have also recently learned about this situation. İmamoğlu said, "The dean who issued this report in 2020, Prof. Dr. Kamil Ahmet Köse, was pressured so much that he had to resign today."
The investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations that the diploma of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is "fake" is ongoing. Speaking about the allegations regarding his diploma in Kastamonu, İmamoğlu made striking statements.
İMAMOĞLU: A REPORT STATING 'HORIZONTAL TRANSFER IS APPROPRIATE' WAS GIVEN BEFORE
İmamoğlu stated that a report was previously issued by his faculty, stating that "Horizontal transfer is appropriate in every aspect." İmamoğlu said, "In this process, a report was given by my faculty to the Presidency Communication Center, which questioned my diploma in 2020, stating 'İmamoğlu's horizontal transfer is appropriate in every aspect.' We just learned about this report. We didn't know; the faculty responded when they asked in 2020." he expressed.
"THE DEAN WITH HIS SIGNATURE HAD TO RESIGN"
İmamoğlu said, "There is also the signature of the professor who is the dean underneath. The dean who issued this report in 2020, Prof. Dr. Kamil Ahmet Köse, was pressured so much and was so worn out that a scientist of many years had to resign today." he stated.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation for the crime of "forgery in official documents" based on the reports of the fake diploma of IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and the findings in the report prepared by the Higher Education Council. İmamoğlu had been invited to the prosecutor's office to give his statement as part of the investigation.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in a letter sent to Istanbul University regarding the investigation opened against İmamoğlu for the allegation that his university diploma is fake, requested that the necessary actions be taken as soon as possible to ensure that the transactions to be established based on İmamoğlu's diploma are not contrary to the law.
