80 PEOPLE BECAME ILL IN 4 VILLAGES
The incident occurred in the villages of Örencik, Okçular, Ilıcakınık, and Çamyayla, which are connected to Bolu center. After cleaning work was carried out in the water reservoir used by the villages sharing the same drinking water line, a large number of people fell ill. 80 people who applied to the hospital within a week with complaints of diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain were treated.
SAMPLES WERE TAKEN FROM THE WATER RESERVOIR
It was learned that all citizens who applied to the hospital were discharged, and samples were taken from the water reservoir by the Provincial Health Directorate teams and sent for laboratory examination.
NOBODY FROM OKÇULAR VILLAGE WAS AFFECTED
While 80 citizens who applied to health institutions were discharged after their treatments, it was learned that one citizen was kept in the hospital for observation. Additionally, it was learned from the village headman Emin Akgül that the citizens residing in Okçular village were not affected by the water and that their reservoirs were clean.

In the statement made by the governorship, it was stated, "On Sunday, May 11, 2025, around 21:00, upon the applications made to health institutions with complaints of nausea and vomiting from Çamyayla village, which is connected to our central district, an immediate investigation was initiated by our Provincial Health Directorate under the coordination of our governorship. As a result of the initial evaluations, citizens who applied with similar complaints from Çamyayla village, Örencik village, Okçular village, and Ilıcakınık Neighborhood, which were determined to be fed from the same water source, were also included in the investigation. Samples have been taken from the network water sources, residual chlorine measurements are being made, and laboratory analyses are ongoing. Our citizens who applied to health institutions have been discharged after the examinations and treatments, and one of our citizens has been hospitalized for observation and is planned to be discharged. The initial laboratory results have come out normal. The results of new samples are being monitored. All public health measures related to the issue have been taken, and necessary field studies and investigations are being carried out meticulously," it was stated.
